Joshua Okamoto
Born in Saitama, Japan, to a Japanese father and Mexican mother, Okamoto lived in Japan until he was 3 years old, and then moved to Guadalajara, Mexico, with his family. His mother, a theater actress, introduced him to the world of acting, having to accompany her to her theater rehearsals since he was a child.
He began his acting career in theater and made the transition in front of the cameras in 2018 with the hit Netflix original series Narcos: Mexico. A year earlier, he made his directorial debut with the short film Ema (2017), co-directed as Camila Acosta. Okamoto continued to appear in TV series such as El Club (2019) and made his big screen debut under the direction of Alex Sanchez in the drama Sonriendo con el corazón (2019). In 2021 she stars in Muerte al verano, a drama film directed by Sebastián Padilla that deals with the loss of dreams and innocence, where small battles such as the anguish of first love or stage fright before a first concert, carry such a heavy burden on her characters and their chaotic world.
He also appeared in the Netflix series, Control Z (2022) as Gibrán, and in the film Sexo, Pudor y Lágrimas 2 (2021) as Fichas. He will make his Hollywood debut with the next film in the Saw franchise titled Saw X (2023), the tenth installment in the saga.
